Jittery Video
So, XBMC is all running well, connecting to my SQL libraries and accessing media through an SMB share.

the problem is the video jumps up and down constantly while in playback or pause. the controls are moving similarly when i bring them up. i'm connecting through HDMI to a 1080p lcd setup to "just scan" so no problems with overscan.

it seems to be limited to mkv's but unfortunately thats what most of my media is encoded in. i've tried setting refresh to 30Hz as suggested in another thread but no improvement.

attached is a xml from media info of a file that displays jitter https://dl.dropbox.com/u/39548367/jittery.xml
and do not https://dl.dropbox.com/u/39548367/not%20jittery.xml

the media plays back fine on other platforms

RE: Jittery Video
Im assuming your connecting via HDMI?

into TV or an AV receiver?

I think your right in going down the hardware route,

have you tried multiple power supplies?
have you tried any other hdmi cables,
have you got any other (in particular power) cables running nearby that could be causing electromagnetic interference?
what model TV are you using and what resolutions does it display.

all things to consider and of course, not exhaustive.

RE: Jittery Video
Try boosting your hdmi signal see here http://elinux.org/RPi_config.txt look for config_hdmi_boost along with force hdmi mode. Config.txt should be in /boot/ if it's not see this thread http://forum.stmlabs.com/showthread.php?tid=832.

RE: Jittery Video
thanks for the responses, i'll try the suggestions.

its hdmi straight into tv and optical into avr from there. i'm using a blackberry charger which i understood were good? yes the hdmi cable does pass right by the multiplug adaptor and i have a samsung le46m8 i think and it goes all the way up to 1080p

but doesn't the fact that i see it in some videos and not in others suggesting that its codec related or bit rate possibly?

yeah, I think you've answered it yourself there, i've found some 1080p video just wont play ball. we can't expect everything to work straight away out of the box, but some really high quality stuff just isnt going to work...

RE: Jittery Video
Hi.

I've also seen this behaviour. But it happens with "normal" videos (I mean, not 1080 or HD). In fact, it happens just with some videos, not all of them... And the same video played on xbmc 11 in an ubuntu media center in the same TV through VGA cable plays perfectly. So.... I suspect some codec related problem....

I have a direct hdmi cable from pi to my samsung TV. Charger is a dedicated standard micro-usb charger. No other cables or elements near.

Another issue in my case is that xbmc always "overscan" and doesn's save overscan adjustments neither in the film or in general settings, but I suppose this must be an xmbc related issue.

Thank you very much for your work. It's amazing!!!
