Video Video only loads 1/20 times or so, always get audio
I am mostly getting audio only and no video, dashboard darkens slightly but never goes away. When video does load the "working" logo lasts much longer. See attached video of a fail

sorry for the crappy vid quality from my cell

My set up is doing the exact same thing

using a 8GB class 6 SD Card

overclocked to:
arm_freq=900
core_freq=450
sdram_freq=450

Running smoothly through menu's, have it set to pass through to receiver for all audio.

I have tried refresh rates of 60, 30 & 24 all with the same result

All Videos are connected to a NAS on the same router all equipment is hard wired.

Using NFS

All media is MKV ripped DVD's and Bluray, No converting lossless rips

The Blu Ray and DVD rips are doing the same thing so i dont think it has to do with file size.

Most of them get the Blank screen but 1 has worked (WANTED Bluray). One tried to play but shutter the whole time with no audio (BraveHeart Bluray) and others give sound perfectly but no video.

Thanks for all your help in advance

The problem is that the Pi cant play (doesnt have the codec's to play the files you've created). You say you've done a lossless rip which will simply take the stream from the DVD and put within the MKV wrapper. The original DVD stream is mpeg2 which cannot be played by the PI (unless a codec enabling pack is released).

You need to rerip and convert the video streams to a format the pi can play.

RE: Video only loads 1/20 times or so, always get audio
yeah, I had exactly the same problem. All my DVD MKVS won't play. That isn't Raspbmc's fault, that's the PI. (h264 decoding is enabled, but MP2 isn't - the Pi people said it would have cost too much to licence the codec - although only around £3 more per pi - and that producing an MP2 version wouldn't be practical at the moment)

So unless someone can find a way of decoding MP2 in software, without killing the Pi in the process, you will have to re-encode ALL your MKVs into h264s. (No way I'm doing that - I run my library fine from my PC and Linux box, I'm not re-encoding 200+ DVDs just to play on the PI. Life is too short lol)

The problem is I am seeing this on all videos. Even ones that are h.264. For example Aladdin. It is ripped to mkv and is reported as h.264. This will play fine about 1/10 times. The other times I get the same behavior of audio starting but video never showing.
