Hi all I've got raspbmc up and running mostly nice on my pi. One issue I have is I have many of my DVD's as iso's on a massive NAS. These play fine on my ubuntu install of XBMC on my laptop.

But on the RPi there are 2 issues.

1) It tries to play them using the default player first so I have to select play in and select DVDPLAYER.

2) Even when the DVDPLAYER tries playing them the sound and video is not in sync.

The first issue I can live with but any help on the second would be great.

oppps should have searched the forums better I did a quick search and missed this http://forum.stmlabs.com/showthread.php?tid=201 I presume it's the same issue.
DVD's will use mpeg2 encoding which the GPU hasn't been licensed to decode and the CPU isn't quite man enough to decode on its own. The foundation may license it in the future but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Just to reply to my own post. It looks as though the foundation have been discussing how provide a mechanism to purchase a licensed codec pack for the pi and it maybe possible to lock it to a specific device to stop piracy. However it will take some effort to get this up and running and I'm sure the foundation have bigger priorities at the moment to do with their main goal.

Sam, I suggest you add the "can't play DVD iso" to your faq.

Cheers
Rob
